Transportation is the country's largest single human produced source of outdoor air pollution.Among major sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada, transportation is the single largest. The biggest players in this are gas-powered vehicles, especially the automobile. Cars and trucks are the most damaging form of transportation for both human health and the environment. There are about 17 million vehicles registered in Canada with each one producing approximately 5 tonnes of harmful pollutants per year. That's 85 million tonnes of emissions being pumped into the atmosphere each year, just from transportation alone!
